We understand that being environmentally responsible in today’s marketplace can be a confusing and difficult task.  With the multitude of “green” claims it can easily make it difficult to tell those who truly care about environmental stewardship from those who merely wish to capitalize on today’s marketing buzz words.  Currently our efforts for less of an environmental footprint include the following:

1. FSC Certification and Inventory:  In 2006 we underwent the process of becoming “FSC Certified”.  The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international program that supports the sustainable management of the world’s forests.  It promotes an international labeling scheme for all wood products which guarantee that the product comes from a well-managed forest and meets international criteria for forest stewardship.  All organizations wishing to become FSC Certified must follow a strict set of guidelines and are audited yearly to make sure they meet minimum requirements in product trace-ability, storage, use and waste management, invoicing and record keeping.

We have taken our commitment to sustainable management of the world’s woods by making out House paper inventory FSC Certified.  The paper we use today is not only one of the most economical and attractive sheets, it is also one that we can be confident was harvested and handled in a responsible manner.

1. Recycling Program: We have committed to the purposeful, consistent recycling of most of the products we use.  These include paper, plates, plastics, metal, cardboard, glass, batteries and ink cartridges.
2. Energy Conservation:  Star Printing, Mailing & Fulfillment is constantly exploring ways to reduce  energy consumption including  prioritizing energy star rated equipment, reducing electricity usage and buying electricity from renewable energy companies.
3. Machinery Investment: We are equally committed to investing in machinery and processes that lower our impact on the environment.  This includes presses that require less paper waste, less chemistry and less electrical usage while giving that same excellent finished product our customers expect and rely on.
